New Delhi (NVI): A major terror strike in national capital was averted as Delhi Police jointly with Assam Police apprehended three Islamic State-influenced militants and recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from them.
Reports quoting DCP Pramod Kushwaha of Delhi Police Special Cell said: “A terror strike has been averted as three persons have been apprehended with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).”
The three were inspired by the ISIS module and were planning and were planning a terror strike at a local carnival in Goalpara district of Assam, Kushwah said. They were also planning to conduct terror strikes in heavy footfall areas of Delhi, the officer added.
Police suspect the three men were influenced by the Islamic State. The three men were found carrying explosive materials used to devise bombs and IED.
The three have been arrested from Assam’s Guwahati. In their early 20s, they have been identified as Muqaddas Islam, Ranjit Ali, Lewis Jamil Jamal.
