Pakistan closes crucial trade route with Afghanistan, hurts its economy

Torkham border between Pakistan and Afghanistan

Kabul, Sep 23 (NVI) Pakistani military demonstrates its hate for Afghans in a number of ways, one of which is to hurt its economy.

An example of this is the closure of Torkhan border by Pakistan during the fruit season in Afghanistan to disrupt supplies and spoil the products.

Pakistan has done it in the past and it has done it again now, according to sources.

Torkham is a major trade route between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Pakistan has closed the Torkham crossing point without any justification, rendering hundreds of trucks carrying fresh fruits from Afghanistan stranded.

It is well known that fresh fruits get spoiled and become useless if there is a delay in delivering these to the market.

Pakistan, therefore, seems to be deliberately closing the trading route, a move that hurts Afghanistan’s economy.

Moreover, Pakistani authorities ill-treat Afghan drivers and others at this border, often beating them and extorting money.

Because of such actions of Pakistani authorities, there is growing anger in Afghanistan towards Pakistan. (NVI)

Balochistan: BLA claims responsibility for 7 attacks on Pakistan Army, its proxies

Quetta, Sep 23 (NVI) Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has owned responsibility for 7 attacks across Balochistan, targeting Pakistan Army, its proxy ‘death squads’ and a gas pipeline and killing at least 3 enemy personnel and wounding several others.

These attacks were carried out in Zamuran, Kalat, Kharan, Quetta and Dhadar districts and several agents and forces’ personnel were arrested and their weapons were seized during these operations, BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement.

In Zamuran’s Tanak area, BLA sniper warrior eliminated an enemy army personnel stationed at a enemy military camp and an army quadcopter was also shot down, he said.

On the night of September 21 and 22, BLA fighters arrested a policeman during a blockade on main highway near Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Quetta, the spokesman said, adding his weapons were seized but he was released later because of his being a local.

The same night, a gas pipeline at Kambari Pul in Dhadar was destroyed using explosives.

BLA fighters also attacked the hideout of ‘death squad’ operative Hafiz Mumtaz in the Barshonki area of Kharan on September 19, Jeeyand Baloch said.

During the raid, two gang agents were arrested, weapons and equipment were seized and the hideout was set on fire, he added.

‘Death squads’ are armed militia formed by the Pakistani military, which gets Baloch civilians killed or abducted through these proxies.

In the same area, BLA fighters took control of a Levies post and arrested four personnel, who were later released, the spokesman said.

Earlier, on September 18, BLA fighters launched a grenade attack on an army blockade in Mangochar area of Kalat, one enemy personnel was eliminated and three others were wounded, he said.

Afterward, Pakistani forces opened indiscriminate fire, which resulted in civilian injuries.

Separately, in Kalat area of Zawa, BLA fighters arrested Qaiser Abbas, an agent of Pakistani Military Intelligence (MI) from Fitand, Gujranwala. After confessing his crimes, he was sentenced to death by Baloch National Court and the sentence was carried out by freedom fighters, Jeeyand Baloch said.

“Baloch Liberation Army claims responsibility for all these operations and reiterated its determination that attacks on enemy Pakistani army and its collaborators will continue with greater intensity in the future,” the spokesman said. (NVI)

Balochistan: BRAS says it killed 7 Pakistani soldiers in 2 clashes

Representative picture of Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) fighters

Quetta, Sep 22 (NVI) Baloch Raaji Ajoi Sangar (BRAS), a conglomerate of various armed freedom-seeking groups of Balochistan, has claimed to have killed 7 Pakistani soldiers in 2 clashes during which it lost 4 fighters.

These clashes  took place in Mastung and Zamuran districts of Balochistan, said in a statement issued by BRAS spokesman Baloch Khan to NVI.

Giving details about the clash in Mastung, he said it took place after the enemy Pakistan Army commandos were air dropped by helicopters and they tried to advance in the Dasht area of September 12.

Prior to the air dropping of the commandos, the  Pakistani military carried out a drone attack.

Armed clashes erupted after the freedom fighters stopped the advance of the enemy army, the spokesman said.

The freedom fighters eliminated 3 enemy army personnel, while two freedom fighters, Abu Bakar alias Majeed and Abdul Had alias Usman, attained the great status of martyrdom, Baloch Khan said.

About the clashes in Zamuran district, he said the gunfight took place when the BRAS fighters were on a patrol and were intercepted by the Pakistani forces in Kotan area on September 13.

In these clashes, four enemy army personnel were eliminated and several were injured, while two freedom fighters, Sudeer alias Barmash and Islam alias Sagaar, were martyred, the spokesman said.

Paying tributes to the fallen colleagues, Baloch Khan said, “Our martyred freedom fighters have made it clear by sacrificing their lives that accepting slavery is not an option. These sacrifices make us realize that every step we take is connected to the future of the coming generations. With this determination, we will continue our struggle so that Balochistan can establish its identity as an independent and dignified land.”

Under the BRAS umbrella, freedom fighters of groups like Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) and Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) work unitedly. (NVI)

Pakistani Air Force conducts strikes in Khyber, massacres 30 Pashtuns, including kids and women

Bodies of children killed in air strikes by Pakistan Air Force in Tirah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last night.

Peshawar, Sep 22 (NVI) Showing yet again its inhuman face, the Pakistani military today massacred over 30 Pashtun people, including women and children, and wounded many others by carrying out air strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of the country.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter planes carried out aerial bombing of Matre Dara village in Tirah Valley at around 2 AM, according to reports from the ground.

The bombing targeted houses and huts of the villagers, razing the constructions to the ground and creating huge piles of debris.

So far, the death of 30 people, including infants and women, has been confirmed in the bombings and many others have been wounded or buried under the debris.

According to inputs from the ground, the Pakistani military action has provoked an outrage  among the Pashtuns who the predominant inhabitants of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Displaying the anger, the Akakhel tribe of Tirah decided collectively to protest against the brutal and inhuman action by the Pakistani military.

The tribe decided that they would not  bury their dead children and men but would place them in front of the residence of Pakistan Army’s Corps Commander. The women victims would be buried.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) reacted strongly against the Pakistani military action.

In a statement, it said, “HRCP is deeply shocked to learn that a number of civilians, including children, have been killed, allegedly as a result of aerial bombing in Tirah, Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We demand that the authorities carry out an immediate and impartial inquiry into the incident and hold to account those responsible.”

It underlined that “the State is constitutionally bound to protect all civilians’s right to life, which it has repeatedly failed to secure”.

Pakistani military, under the pretext of targeting terrorists, has been carrying out such air strikes in civilian areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province as it fails to take on the ‘Mujahideen’ of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on the ground in direct fight.

In the ground fight, the Pakistani military has been facing huge losses in terms of men and material. (NVI)

Indian air strikes on May 7 made ‘mince’ of JeM chief Masood Azhar’s family members: Close associate

Chief of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad Masood Azhar (File photo)

New Delhi, Sep 21 (NVI) Family members of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar were killed in the Indian air strike of May 7, which targeted the terror outfit’s headquarters in Bahawalpur in Pakistani Punjab, according to a top commander of the group.

Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, a close associate of Masood Azhar, disclosed that the bodies of these relatives were “turned into mince” by the Indian bombings.

He, however, did not specify about the fate of Azhar, who has not been seen in public since the May 7 air strikes by India under ‘Operation Sindoor’ to avenge the massacre of 26 innocent people in Pahalgam in Kashmir  on April 22 by JeM terrorists.

On the fateful night of May 6 and 7, India carried out air strikes at 9 major terror installations in Pakistan, an action which is believed to have killed hundreds of anti-India terrorists and jihadis.

Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, while addressing a public rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan recently, said the killing of Masood Azhar’s family members had prompted

Gen Asim Munir, the then Chief of Army Staff (now elevated to Field Marshal), to order General Headquarters to direct military commanders to attend the funerals of JeM terrorists.

As per the directive, Pakistan Air Force provided overhead security and soldiers in uniform offered salute to the dead JeM operatives at their funerals.

This was in full public view, thus removing any doubts about the proximity between the Pakistani military and anti-India terrorists.

At the rally, Masood Ilyas Kashmiri spoke about jihad and urged the participants to enroll.

According to latest inputs, Jaish is planning to hold another major event on September 25 in Peshawar’s ‘Marakaz Shaheed Maksudabad’ to commemorate the killing of Yusuf Azhar, brother of Masood Azhar, in Operation Sindoor.

Pamphlets distributed in KPK confirm that the event will be staged under the banner of JeM’s alias ‘Al-Murabitun’ (meaning ‘defenders of land of Islam’). This is because JeM is an outfit listed as a Terrorist Organisation by the United Nations.

Interestingly, the name Al-Murabitun seems similar to Al-Qaeda in Western Africa. (NVI)

‘Op Sindoor’ impact: Anti-India terror groups relocating to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

By Ajay Kaul

New Delhi, Sep 21 (NVI) In an interesting development, Pakistan-supported anti-India terror groups, particularly Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), are shifting their training camps to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Province in their quest for ‘safe locations’ after the ‘Operation Sindoor’ made their positions vulnerable elsewhere in that  country.

The Pakistani military has been extending all help to these outfits in identifying the ‘safe locations’ in KPK as well as shifting their arsenal clandestinely, according to inputs received from the ground.

The shifting has been effected as the location of their terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Punjab Province of Pakistan was considered vulnerable after the Indian air strikes hit 9 major terror-training facilities in these areas under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7 this year.

These groups believe that, to escape any future attacks by India, KPK offers greater depth due to its geography, proximity to the Afghan frontier, and existing jihadi safe havens dating back to the Afghan war.

It may be recalled that during the night of May 6 and 7, Indian forces, under ‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out precision air strikes at 9 major terror camps situated in Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistani Punjab Province and in Rawalakot in PoJK.

The air strike was carried out in retaliation to the massacre of 25 Indian tourists and a local man by 3 Pakistani terrorists in scenic Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22.

Not only are these anti-India terrorist groups shifting the training camps, they are also carrying out a special drive to recruit jihadis in their fold, that too publicly.

One such activity took place in Garhi Habibullah town of Mansehra district in KPK on September 14, about 7 hours before the start of the India-Pakistan T20 cricket match during the ongoing Asia Cup, sources said.

On that day, JeM staged a public recruitment drive, where the brainwashing speech was delivered by Masood Ilyas Kashmiri alias Abu Mohammad, the terror outfit’s chief for KPK and Kashmir.

The event was held under the garb of a “Deobandi religious gathering” but for over 30 minutes, Masood Ilyas Kashmiri glorified Osama Bin Laden, calling him the ‘Shohada-e-Islam’ (Martyr of Islam) and ‘Prince of Arab’ and directly linking JeM’s ideological line with Al-Qaeda’s legacy.

For India, Masood is among the most wanted terrorists, closely connected to JeM founder and chief Masood Azhar.

Videos from the rally showed that Masood was guarded by the JeM terrorists armed with sophisticated M4 rifles.

Local police officers, including Inspector Liaqat Shah of Garhi Habibullah Police Station, were also providing security to the rally, demonstrating clearly the level of complicity between the State of Pakistan and anti-India terrorists.

In his speech, Masood reminded the audience that when Masood Azhar was freed from an Indian jail in exchange for hostages of Indian Airlines plane IC-814 hijacked terrorists in December 1999, Balakot in KPK became his base and headquarters of JeM.

He highlighted this aspect to underline the importance of KPK for the operations of JeM.

Along with JeM, HM is also constructing a new training camp, codenamed ‘HM 313’ in Bandaai area of Lower Dir in KPK, according to sources.

The plot of land for this  camp was discreetly purchased and construction launched after ‘Operation Sindoor’.

This HM training facility is being constructed under the supervision of former Pakistan Army commando Khalid Khan, who is also a commander of the anti-India terror outfit.

The “313” nomenclature is a clear symbolic tribute to both Badr Ghazwa (historic Islamic battle) and Al-Qaeda’s Brigade 313, reflecting Hizbul’s intent to attract global jihadi legitimacy. (NVI)

Trump sees ally in Pakistan, which patronizes terrorists who curse US and glorifies Bin Laden

Masood Ilyas Kashmiri addressing public jihad rally in Pakistan

By Ajay Kaul

New Delhi, Sep 20 (NVI) Even as the Trump Administration treats Pakistan as a strategic ally, the Pakistani military is patronizing terrorists who swear ideological allegiance to Osama Bin Laden and openly curse the US, along with Israel and India.

A number of public rallies have recently been witnessed in Pakistan, where top terrorists of banned terror outfits — Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen – talked about jihad against the US, Israel and India, significantly in the presence of some top Pakistani military officials and politicians.

More glaring is the contradiction that Pakistan represents to the world. While it is the current Chair of the UN Security Council (UNSC), in its backyard, terror outfits and terrorists proscribed by the same global body are holding public events and ranting about jihad against the civilized world, that too under official patronage.

An example in this regard is a rally addressed by Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, a senior commander of JeM who swears by Osama Bin Laden in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

At the rally, the terrorist who fought against NATO forces in Afghanistan till 2006 spit venom against not just India but also against the USA & Israel.

The original name of Masood Ilyas Kashmiri is Abu Mohammad and he changed his name after his inspiration and role model Ilyas Kashmir, the Commander of Al-Qaeda Brigade 313, was killed in a US drone attack in Afghanistan in 2011.

Born in Rawalakot in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Masood returned to Pakistan from Afghanistan in 2007 and was made the JeM’s district commander of Rawalakot where he established the ‘Markaz Shohoda-e-Kashmir training camp.

Close to the Pakistani military, Masood has also been made by his masters the ‘Commander of Hilal-ul-Haq Brigade’ alias People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF).

His operational track record includes his role as the mastermind of the 2018 terror attack on Indian Army Camp attack in Sunjawan in Jammu, where six Indian soldiers and one civilian were killed.

India’s NIA chargesheet identifies him alongside Masood Azhar and Abdul Rauf Asghar as planners who provided weapons and logistics to the attackers.

In 2019, it was further established that Kashmiri assumed command of the joint Lashkar–Jaish formation called the Hilal-ul-Haq Brigade, which was later rebranded as PAFF as a façade for terror activities in Kashmir.

So, Pakistan continues to double-cross the US and President Donald Trump is looking the other way.

In fact, it is the same Trump, who in his earlier tenure as the President, had said in January 2018 that Pakistan had been deceiving the US for decades under the garb of fighting terrorism. (NVI)

Balochistan: Pakistani military drone attack kills 5 of a family, including a child

Quetta, Sep 20 (NVI) In yet another act of brutality by the Pakistani military in Balochistan, five members of a family, including a child, have been killed and 5 others injured in a drone attack in Khuzdar district of the occupied region.

According to reports from the field, the Pakistani military used carried out  drone attack in  area of Zehri in Khuzdar district.

Five members of one family were left dead in the explosion caused by the drone bombing.

Among the dead are a child, two women and two men, the reports said, adding 5 others sustained injuries.

Such aerial attack on innocent and unarmed people of Balochistan is not the first by the Pakistani military.

The Baloch people have been urging the international community, including the global human rights bodies, to take cognizance of such brutality by the Pakistani military against the civilians of Balochistan and take punitive actions against the Pakistani State.

The Baloch people have been underlining that such brutality amounts of crimes against humanity. (NVI)

Balochistan: BLA claims killing of 32 Pakistani soldiers in suicide attack on convoy

Quetta, Sep 19 (NVI) Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight claimed to have killed 32 Pakistani soldiers, including officers, and injured dozens of others in a suicide attack on a military convoy that completely destroyed 3 buses in Balochistan yesterday.

The operation was carried out by two Fidayeen (suicide attackers) of the Majeed Brigade, a unit of the BLA which specialises in suicide attacks.

According to BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch, a large and heavy convoy of the occupying Pakistan Army was targeted at the Kanchati Cross in the Dasht area of Kech district of Balochistan.

The convoy consisted of six buses, in which dozens of personnel of the occupying Pakistani army were on board, and a separate military squad was also accompanying them to protect them, he said.

The convoy had reached Gwadar from Karachi a day earlier and was leaving Gwadar for Turbat on the day of the attack, the spokesman said.

“The attack was carried out at 1:05 pm (Pakistan Time) under a systematic plan, thorough information preparation and complete military discipline when the enemy was unaware, and the BLA suicide bombers turned this opportunity into a decisive attack against the enemy with full skill, tact and determination,” he said.

“The first phase of the Majeed Brigade’s fidayeen operation began when Fidayeen Sangat Altaf alias Chakar rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the main bus of the enemy convoy, resulting in a huge explosion, completely destroying the bus and killing all the personnel on board on the spot,” he said.

Immediately after the explosion, Fidayeen Sangat Gahram alias Zagreen and Khalil alias Kalmir entered the enemy’s encirclement and targeted the remaining buses and the unconscious security squad, Jeeyand Baloch said.

“Despite the enemy’s return fire, the two fidayeen continued the attack and froze the enemy’s movement.

“The attack continued for more than 30 minutes, and when both fidayeens ran out of weapons after killing dozens of enemy personnel, they sacrificed their lives for their nation and land, following the philosophy of the last bullet under the BLA’s fidayeen poem,” the spokesman said.

“According to ground sources and the intelligence wing of the Baloch Liberation Army, “Zirab”, at least 32 personnel of the occupying Pakistani army were killed and dozens injured in the attack, including several officers,” he said.

More than three buses were completely destroyed in the attack, and the enemy faced several hours of delay and difficulties in removing the bodies from the scene and transferring the injured, he added.

After the attack, the enemy immediately sent air support, drone surveillance, and ground troops to the scene, but due to the complete destruction, organizational chaos, and deep psychological effects, it took the occupying army hours to carry out rescue operations, due to which most of the injured military personnel died on the spot, the spokesman said.

“For the BLA, this operation is not just a successful attack, but a practical expression of the belief that the enemy will not be allowed to find peace and tranquility in any corner of Balochistan,” he declared.

“The attack came at a time when the state of Pakistan and its ally China are busy trying to increase military, diplomatic and legal pressure on the Baloch national movement at the global level.

Recently, Pakistan and China jointly proposed to include the Baloch Liberation Army and its fidayeen unit Majeed Brigade on the list of terrorist organizations under the 1267 Committee of the United Nations Security Council.

No foreign project allowed in Balochistan without consent of locals: BNM chief

Quetta, Sep 16 (NVI) Baloch National Movement (BNM) Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch has asserted that no foreign investment or project will be allowed in Balochistan without the consent of the Baloch nation.

“It does not matter which country seeks to impose its interests; whether regional or global powers, no state has the right to exploit our homeland against our will. The wealth of Balochistan belongs to the Baloch nation, and only we will decide how it is used,” he stated.

“Balochistan is not a creation of recent history. It has long possessed a distinct political identity, with a history of autonomy and treaty relations that existed well before the emergence of Pakistan,” he said while addressing the 7th Balochistan International Conference in Geneva.

“The sovereign status of the Baloch nation was acknowledged in formal agreements between the British colonial authorities and the Khan of Kalat, ruler of the Baloch State of Kalat,” the BNM chief said.

He recalled: “In 1876, the British signed a treaty with the Khan of Kalat, recognising Kalat as an independent state under British control with limited obligations in defence and foreign policy. Crucially, the British never annexed Kalat nor integrated it into British India. The relationship remained that of two separate political entities bound by treaty.”

Dr. Naseem added that when the British withdrew in 1947, “Kalat declared independence on 11 August 1947 — days before the creation of Pakistan. For a short but significant period, Kalat functioned as an independent state, with its own parliament, foreign policy, and diplomatic negotiations.

“But on 27 March 1948, Pakistan invaded and occupied Balochistan. This forced annexation was carried out despite the fact that both the upper and lower houses of the Kalat Parliament had rejected any proposal of accession. That act of aggression sparked immediate resistance, and since then, the Baloch movement has never accepted Pakistan’s claim over our land.

“We regard the 1948 accession as nothing more than an act of unlawful occupation.”

He noted that after Pakistan’s occupation, Balochistan witnessed successive uprisings — in 1948, 1958, 1962, 1973, and again from the early 2000s.

“The Pakistani state has responded to every expression of dissent with overwhelming military force, mass arrests, censorship, and economic exploitation. Particularly in recent decades, human rights abuses have intensified to alarming levels.

“International organisations including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have documented enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture in custody, the discovery of mass graves, and the brutal suppression of peaceful political activity,” he said.

He pointed out that journalists, students, academics, and activists are among those most frequently targeted.

Thousands remain disappeared in Pakistani torture cells, leaving their families in anguish.

“Today, Balochistan is one of the most militarised regions in South Asia. Its people suffer violence while its vast natural resources — gas, gold, copper, and its strategic coastline — are plundered and sold to the world. The conflict has displaced countless Baloch families, many now living in exile,” the  Baloch leader said.

Urging the international community to “acknowledge the historical basis of Baloch sovereignty and the disputed nature of Pakistan’s claim,” he requested the United Nations to send a fact-finding mission to Balochistan to investigate enforced disappearances, mass graves, and other human rights violations.

“We demand international legal scrutiny of Pakistan’s actions under humanitarian and human rights law. Above all, we call for recognition of the Baloch people’s right to self-determination, as enshrined in the UN Charter and other international instruments — a right especially relevant in cases of historical occupation and ongoing repression.”

He stressed that the Baloch issue is not merely a political demand but “a matter of historical correction and legal recognition. Our struggle is not to destabilise the region but to seek a just, peaceful, and lasting solution based on justice, accountability, and the right of nations to determine their own destiny.”

Concluding his address, Dr. Naseem said that the international community has both a moral and legal obligation to engage with the Baloch question. “A fair and principled approach to Balochistan is not only necessary for justice but also for lasting peace and stability in South Asia.” (NVI)
