Police Solve Blind Murder Case of Woman and Two Children in Kishtwar

Crime Spot : House where woman & her children died allegedly by fire

Sayed Zahid

Kistawar, Nov 21(NVI) : In a major breakthrough, the Jammu & Kashmir Police District Kishtwar has solved a chilling blind murder case involving the death of a woman and her two children in Jisher Drabshalla. Initially reported as an accidental fire, the investigation uncovered it to be a premeditated murder.

“On November 11, 2024, a fire was reported at the house of Khursheed Ahmed in Jisher Drabshalla, resulting in the deaths of his first wife, Nazia Begum (35), and their two children, Amina Bano (10) and Rizan Ahmed (5). The victims were tragically burnt alive,” reads the details available with NVI.

It reads, police initially registered an inquest under Section 174 of the CrPC and took the charred remains for post-mortem before handing them over to the family for last rites. However, the circumstances raised suspicions, prompting SSP Kishtwar to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a detailed probe.

The SIT, led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed and assisted by PSI Ankush Sharma under the supervision of Dy. SP Dr. Ishan Gupta, conducted a meticulous investigation. They analyzed technical evidence and interrogated multiple suspects. The probe revealed a web of domestic disputes in the household, as Khursheed Ahmed had two wives—Nazia Begum (deceased) and Asma Begum.

Through sustained questioning, Asma Begum confessed to the crime before an Executive Magistrate. She admitted to setting the house on fire on November 11, 2024, due to ongoing conflicts with Nazia. Following her confession, the police converted the inquest into an FIR and arrested Asma.

SSP Kishtwar lauded the SIT’s efforts in solving the case and emphasized that such heinous acts will face the full force of the law. He reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining the safety of the community.—(News Vibes of India)

Let J&K Assembly Pass resolution 100 times, PM scrapped Art 370 forever : Sat Sharma

J&K BJP President Sat Sharma addressing a seminar titled "Unconstitutional Resolution" organized by BJP’s Legal Cell at the party's headquarters in Jammu

NVI Correspondent

Jammu, Nov 21 (NVI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir President Sat Sharma criticized the National Conference (NC) about bragging much about passing resolution on restoration of special status in Legislative Assembly.

Sharma said even if NC passes the resolution on Article 370 hundred times, Prime Minister is same who trashed it forever and made it a history.

Addressing a seminar titled “Unconstitutional Resolution” organized by BJP’s Legal Cell at the party’s headquarters in Jammu, Sharma dismissed the NC resolution as “unconstitutional.”

“The NC has passed a resolution calling for the restoration of special status, but this was done under highly irregular circumstances. The Speaker directed the expulsion of BJP members, rendering the entire process illegal,” he remarked.

He said even if NC passes special status resolution 100 times in Legislative Assembly, PM is same who scrapped it forever and made it as a history.

Sharma emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, was a decisive step taken by the central government, and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership ensured that Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape underwent a profound transformation.

“Even if NC passes this resolution a hundred times, the fact remains that PM Modi is the leader who made Article 370 a thing of the past. He recently stated that some chapters of history are best left closed,” Sharma added.

Highlighting the developments that followed the abrogation, Sharma pointed out that J&K has experienced significant progress and a growing atmosphere of peace.

“Thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s persistent efforts, peace and stability have been restored in J&K,” he said.

Sharma also emphasized the positive changes that followed the abrogation, particularly the extension of voting rights to marginalized communities such as West Pakistani Refugees and Valmikis. “The day of August 5, 2019, was historic as it brought justice to these long-neglected sections of society,” he stated.

Responding to NC’s renewed calls for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A, Sharma accused the party of attempting to mislead the people of Kashmir. “This is just another attempt to deceive the public, as they falsely promised to reinstate Article 370 and Article 35A during elections,” he remarked.

Sharma also pointed out the electoral success of the BJP, which achieved its highest-ever vote share of 26 percent. He noted that NC’s share was only 23 percent, while Congress, despite claiming to have a CM candidate, secured a mere 12 percent. (News Vibes of India)

JDA demolishes temprorary shops belonging to KP community, Move evokes resentment

NVI Correspondent

Jammu, Nov 21 (NVI): Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today demolished dozens of temporary shops belonging to Kashmiri Pandits at Muthi Camp in Jammu allegedly without any prior notice.

The ill-fated shopkeepers cried foul stating that they were given no advance notice and the move was sudden. “They came with bulldozers early morning and demolished our shops. We have been running these shops for 32 years. I was young then. I have to marry off my daughters,” said a Kashmiri Pandit Shopkeeper, whose shop was demolished.

Another KP whose shop was demolished said that LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister talks of rehabilitation of KPs, but today “we saw their rehabilitation in the form of demolition of our shops.” “Is this your rehabilitation, Is this the way you treat us,” the irate shopkeepers said in an obvious reference to LG Sinha and CM Omar.

An official of the JDA when contacted told NVI that they had directions from the top “to demolish some shops that are illegal and on the encroached land.” “We only followed directions,” he said, pleading anonymity.

Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X: “Heartbreaking scenes emerge as KP shopkeepers stand helplessly by the rubble of their demolished shops, reportedly brought down by the JDA without prior notice. This comes as yet another blow to a community that has endured unimaginable hardships for decades. What began as targeted demolitions of assets of tribal community has now been extended to KPs, further deepening their sense of alienation and loss. We urge CM Omar Abdullah to step in and address this grave injustice with compassion and urgency.”

Apni Party chief Syed Altaf Bukhari also wrote on X that JDU should not have demolished the temporary shops belonging to KP refugees at Muthi camp Jammu. “These small establishments have been the primary source of livelihood for these poor migrants for over past three decades. If demolition was necessary, the administration should have first arranged alternative to protest their livelihoods. Such actions are disappointing, especially under an elected government that is expected to prioritise the welfare of its citizens. I urge the administration o ensure justice for the affected shop owners by either permitting them to rebuild their shops or providing them with suitable alternatives to sustain their livelihoods.” (News Vibes of India)
