Peshawar: Security institutions in Pakistan are the main source of corruption in the country, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said and sought the support of all people, especially the Pashtun and Baloch, in its fight to “get rid of this system of oppression”.

The Islamist organisation said the people belonging to police forces, doctors, engineers and teachers etc are not its targets unless they are found supporting the Pakistan Army and secret agencies.

The TTP issued a statement, commenting on an agreement between the National Jirga and the Peshawar Police in Zhob (Balochistan).

“We believe that the security institutions are the main source of corruption in the system of Pakistan and without getting rid of them, we cannot reach the real goal of establishing Pakistan,” TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in the statement.

“The way the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has entered into an agreement with external forces for military resources and cooperation in the war, then apparently the KPK Police is going to be a part of this war for getting dollars like the Army,” he said.

“We warn the police and levies etc. to stay away from the war between us and the security agencies imposed on the country,” he said.

“We have always tried not to turn our war with police levies etc. However, wherever the police plays the role of the frontline of the army, the Mujahideen also target the police,” he said.

“Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is the representative of the Pakistani people and a party struggling for their Shariah rights in the light of Islamic teachings,” he said.

“We are fighting against the security agencies for the protection of the Shariah rights of our nation,” Khurasani said, adding “we ask all the Pakistani people, especially the Pashtun and Baloch people, to support Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to get rid of this system of oppression.”
