Self-Enumeration for Census 2027 Begins Today: SMC Commissioner Urges Public Participation

Srinagar, May 17 (NVI): Principal Census Officer (Urban) and Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Faz Lul Haseeb on Sunday briefed the media about the launch of the Self-Enumeration phase for Census 2027, which commenced today and will continue till May 31, 2026.

Addressing the media in Srinagar, Haseeb said the Self-Enumeration initiative allows citizens to voluntarily submit their household and demographic details through a simple digital platform, aimed at enhancing public participation and ensuring greater accuracy in the Census process.

He said the initiative is being introduced for the first time in the history of the Indian Census, enabling residents to furnish their details from the comfort of their homes. He added that the move has been designed to promote transparency, convenience and efficiency in the Census exercise while strengthening public outreach and welfare-oriented planning.

Haseeb appealed to the general public to actively participate in the Self-Enumeration process within the stipulated timeline and extend full cooperation to the administration for the smooth conduct of Census 2027.

He also urged citizens to provide accurate and complete information so that the Census exercise reflects a reliable demographic profile, which would help in effective planning and developmental initiatives.(NVI)
