Serial Job Fraudster Booked in 3 Cases by EOW Kashmir

Srinagar, May 12 (NVI): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir has registered three cases against a Kupwara resident for allegedly duping several people on the pretext of providing government jobs, officials said on Tuesday.

Officials the cases have been registered against Abdul Majeed Mir, son of Abdul Rahim Mir, a resident of Lastiyal Kalaroos in Kupwara district.

A spokesperson said preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had collected huge sums of money from multiple victims by falsely promising them government jobs in various departments and financial institutions.

The investigation further found that the accused allegedly prepared and supplied fake appointment orders purportedly issued by government agencies and J&K Bank to gain the trust of the victims and deceive them.

Officials said the acts committed by the accused prima facie attract offences under relevant provisions of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), the erstwhile Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The spokesperson added that Abdul Majeed Mir is a “notorious offender” and that Crime Branch Kashmir had already filed chargesheets against him in two previous cases.

Meanwhile, the EOW Kashmir has advised the public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report suspicious activities to the Crime Branch.(NVI)
