Srinagar, Sep 28 (NVI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to introduce five government bills in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, including amendments related to GST, salaries and allowances of ministers and legislators, and members’ pension.
According to the supplementary list of business issued by the J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the bills also include legislation aimed at decriminalising and rationalising certain offences to promote ease of living and doing business.
The Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, listed as L.A. Bill No. 12 of 2026, seeks to amend the J&K GST Act, 2017. Abdullah will introduce the bill in his capacity as the minister in charge of finance.
The chief minister, as minister in charge of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, will also introduce a bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Ministers’ and Ministers of State Salaries Act, 1956. The legislation is listed as L.A. Bill No. 13 of 2026.
Another bill, L.A. Bill No. 14 of 2026, seeks amendments to the Salaries and Allowances of Members of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Act, 1960.
The fourth legislation, listed as L.A. Bill No. 15 of 2026, proposes amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Pension Act, 1984.
The fifth bill, L.A. Bill No. 16 of 2026, relates to decriminalisation and rationalisation of offences under certain enactments for ease of living and doing business. It also proposes repeal of certain enactments and matters incidental to the proposed changes.
The bills have been published in extraordinary issues of the Official Gazette, according to the supplementary business list issued by the Assembly Secretariat.
The list, dated September 28, was issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat and signed by its Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandit.
The introduction of the five bills forms part of the legislative business scheduled for the ongoing Assembly session.—(NVI)
