BJP to Hold Protest March Against Wine Shops in Kashmir Today

Srinagar, May 15 (NVI): The Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will stage a protest march in Srinagar on Friday against the operation of wine shops in the Valley and demand a complete ban on the sale and consumption of liquor in Kashmir, party leaders said.

The protest march will begin at 10 am from Ram Munshibagh in the Sonwar area and proceed towards the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Gupkar, a BJP spokesperson said.

The party also accused the ruling National Conference of supporting the sale and promotion of alcohol in the Valley.

“The sale of liquor in Kashmir is against the social and religious ethos of the region. We demand an immediate ban on wine shops across the Kashmir division,” BJP co-media incharge Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah said.

He alleged that the people of Kashmir had repeatedly opposed the promotion of alcohol and other such “vices.(NVI)
