Indian, Chinese Troops Exchange Sweets at Ladakh Border on Diwali

NVI Correspondent

Leh, Oct 31(NVI): Indian and Chinese Army troops exchanged sweets at various border points in the Ladakh sector to mark Diwali on Thursday, an event occurring nearly four years after tensions began.

Photos showed the two sides engaging in this tradition at Hot Springs, Karakoram Pass, Daulat Beg Oldi, KongkLa, and the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point.

The exchange occurred a day after both nations completed the disengagement process.

A social media post highlighted the interaction, noting, “Soldiers of the Indian and Chinese Army exchange sweets at Moldo Chushul and Kongkala Chang-Chenmo in the Ladakh Sector on the occasion of Diwali.”

This event follows recent agreements between India and China regarding patrol arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the disengagement process along the LAC in eastern Ladakh is nearly complete.

The border standoff between India and China began in eastern Ladakh in 2020, following Chinese military actions that led to heightened tensions and strained relations between the two nations.

The disengagement process has been completed at the Depsang and Demchok flashpoints in the Ladakh sector, with patrolling set to commence soon.

Verification of the disengagement is ongoing, and discussions continue at the local commanders’ level. Sources indicated that the patrolling modalities will be determined by the ground commanders (brigadier and below).                                                              (News Vibes of India)
