Four Killed, Four Injured in Two Separate accidents in J&K

Srinagar, 30 Oct (NVI): Four people were killed and four others injured in two separate accidents in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.

Two people identified as Surinder Singh (41), a resident of VPO Namgal Dhoor, District Gurdaspur, and Munna Kumar (25), a resident of Mahamda, died at the scene.

Meanwhile, another road accident near the Magarkote flyover in Banihal, Ramban district resulted in the deaths of two people, including a driver and a woman.

Officials said that a vehicle with registration number PB36-J-3100, which was transporting passengers, was involved in the incident.

Four others sustained injuries and have been taken to the Sub-district Hospital Banihal for treatment.—(News Vibes of India)

575 Lecturer Posts Approved for Recruitment in J&K : Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Oct 29 (NVI) : The Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakina Itoo, announced the approval of advertisements for 575 lecturer positions in various streams within the School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir.

The minister said that this initiative is part of the commitment to provide jobs to unemployed youth in the region.

The posts will be referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for further recruitment processes.

“We have started to fulfil the promise of Hon’ble CM Jb @OmarAbdullah Sb with regard to providing jobs to unemployed youth of J&K. I have approved the advertisement of 575 (+2) lecturers of different streams, in School Education Department. The posts are being referred to JKPSC,” she said in a post on X.—(News Vibes of India)

23-Year-Old Youth Dies, Two other injured in Kulgam Accident

Srinagar, Oct 29 (NVI): A 23-year-old youth died and two others sustained injuries after their motorcycle was involved in an accident in the DH Pora area of Kulgam, South Kashmir, sources said.

Police sources told NVI that three young boys riding a motorcycle with registration number JK22 C 8572 skidded off the road at Nagam while returning from Ziyarat Chimmer to Shopian.

One of the riders, identified as Sameer Mubarak Rather, son of Mubarak Ahmed Rather, a resident of Zaipora Dramarth, died at the scene.

The other two injured, Munib Shafi Mir, son of Mohd Shafi Mir, and Gowhar Gulzar Rather, son of Gulzar Ahmed Rather, both residents of Zaipora Dramath, were shifted to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment.

Terrorist associate held along with 10 grenades in Pulwama : J&K Police

Srinagar, Oct 10(NVI):Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday said that it arrested a terrorist associate along with 10 grenades in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Based on inputs about an imminent terror attack in Pulwama town, a joint naka of Pulwama SOG, 55RR and CRPF 182Bn, was laid in the evening hours at the Circular road, Pulwama,” a police spokesperson said, adding that during checking, one person namely Danish Bashir S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Dangerpora, Pulwama, who was travelling on his Scooty, was asked to stop at the circular road and search was made.

“Upon checking, 10 live grenades and 05 batteries were found to be in his possession which were carefully wrapped and kept in the under seat of the two wheeler,” the police said

“Cognizance of the said recovery has been taken and case FIR no. 224/2024 u/s 18, 39 UAPA, ¾ Explosives Act, and the said suspect was arrested,” the police said, adding that further investigation into this matter is going on, more arrests are likely to take place.    (News Vibes of India)

Fire Breaks out in Kishtwar village

Kishtwar, Oct 29 (NVI): Four residential houses were engulfed in fire in Kuchhal village of Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Following the incident, the firefighters rushed to the scene to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

“As of now, the cause of the fire has not been determined,” an official said.                   (News Vibes of India)

Omar led govt committed to bridge gaps between regions : Farooq Abdullah

Jammu, 29 Oct (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said that the party is committed to bridge the gaps between regions and fortifying the bonds of unity.

He made these comments while meeting scores of public and individual delegations on the second day today at his residence in Jammu.

During discussions Dr Farooq listened to the concerns raised by the delegations.

KU Postpones Examinations Scheduled for October 30

Srinagar, Oct 29 (NVI): The University of Kashmir has announced the postponement of all university examinations set for October 30, 2024.

This decision affects all concerned candidates, and the university has said that new dates for the examinations will be communicated separately.

“It is notified for the information of all concerned candidates that all University Examinations scheduled to be held on 30-10-2024 have been postponed and fresh dates shall be notified separately,” reads the notification of the KU.—(News Vibes of India)

Fire at Purkhoo Camp, Jammu : 12 Quarters gutted

Jammu,Oct 29(NVI): In a drastic fire at Purkoo Camp of Displaced Kashmiri Pandits on the outskirts of Jammu city, 12 quarters were gutted on tuesday.

As per reports the fire started in one old quarters of Purkhoo camp & quickly engulfed nearby quarters as well.

In quick response to the incident Fire Service department rushed to the spot to put off the fire and prevent further damage.

No one was reported hurt but most of the household goods and a two-wheeler were reduced to ashes.

Victims alleged that no one from the district administration or the relief department has so far come to assess the extent of the damage.

They also urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to provide them compensation on the pattern of the Warwan in Kishtwar. We want the intervention of the LG Manoj Sinha, fire victims said. (News Vibes of India)

MP Ruhullah Reaches Out to CM Omar, Urges Solutions to Key Issues

Srinagar, Oct 29 (NVI): Apart from extending his congratulations to Omar Abdullah on his appointment as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Member of Parliament from Srinagar, wrote to him on Tuesday to address several pressing issues, including the plight of prisoners held without trial.

In a formal letter, a copy of which lies with NVI, Mehdi outlined several recommendations to help shape a just and effective administration. He called for the release of prisoners to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law, emphasizing the importance of addressing this humanitarian concern.

He stressed the need to rationalize reservation policies, advocating for a balanced approach that supports deserving communities while maintaining merit-based opportunities. He argued that such measures could foster social equity and inclusivity.

Another pressing issue he raised was the swift filling of government vacancies, which he believes is essential for providing employment opportunities to thousands of deserving candidates and bolstering the local economy.

As winter approaches, Mehdi urged the Chief Minister to tackle the high electricity tariffs that burden consumers, suggesting that reducing these rates and ensuring a stable supply would greatly help families during harsh weather conditions.

He also called for a reassessment of the existing verification processes, which he described as overly harsh and often unfair, stressing the need for a more just approach for all applicants.

Army Thwarts Terror Ambush in Jammu, Killed three terrorists

Srinagar, Oct 29(NVI): The army on Tuesday said that three unidentified terrorists were killed during an ongoing encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The encounter began on Monday morning after security forces chased terrorists who fired upon an Army ambulance, causing no injuries.

During the operation, one terrorist was killed, and two other were killed today while the search operation is going on

The Army in a statement said that after round the clock surveillance through out the night, an intense firefight unfolded today morning resulting in a significant victory for our forces.

“Relentless operations and tactical excellence has led to the elimination of three terrorists,” the army said, adding that the operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like stores, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region.

Meanwhile, in an another detailed statement, the army said it thwarted a terror ambush in the dense forests of Battal area Jammu, on October 28, 2024, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. “In the pre-dawn hours, terrorists ambushed an army convoy, prompting a swift and precise response from the troops. There were no casualties among the convoy persons, as troops quickly forced the attackers to retreat,” it said.

“The operation demonstrated synergy with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Special Operation Group (SOG), bolstered by local intelligence and community assistance. Troops maintained comprehensive domination of the area, operating under challenging conditions during the night,” army added.

“Special Forces were mobilized promptly to reinforce the cordon around the fleeing militants. Advanced technology, including night surveillance devices, unmanned ground vehicles & surveillance drones ensured real-time tracking and prevented potential escapes,” it said.

“Tragically, an Army Dog, Phantom sustained fatal injuries during the operation, underscoring the risk involved for all pers engaged in counter-terrorist operation. The operation underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, with enhanced security measures and local outreach ensuring continuous stability,” the army added.

“We also want to dispel some rumours going around on Social Media about the use of BMPs in this operation. The hardened vehicles were used to close-in with the trapped terrorists. We want to also emphasize that Indian Army is a professional force and no disrespect to the mortal remains of the slain terrorist has been carried out,” it said.                        (News Vibes of India)
