New Delhi: Dr Ashok Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU) who has recently been elected to the Rajya Sabha, has promised to make every possible effort towards progress and development of the country and its people.
He took the vow after being administered the oath as the Rajya Sabha member by Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu here.
Mittal was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee from Punjab on March 25.
He is among 5 AAP candidates to be elected to the Upper House of Parliament.
LPU, established in 2005, is a Private University situated on the outskirts of Jalandhar, Punjab.
Thanking the Indian Government for the responsibility entrusted to him, Mittal said, “It’s an honour to accept the responsibilities laid upon me at the upper house of the Parliament of India. I will strive to fulfil the duties delegated to me to the best of my abilities.”
Dr Mittal holds that along with his newly assigned parliamentary duties, he will keep on propagating the National Education Policy- 2020, by working on innovative ideas to address the pressing problems of the society and revolutionize the educational scenario of the country.
