PDP Lack Understanding of Language, Ought To Learn What ‘Special Status’ Meant in Our Resolution : Sakina Itoo

Sakina Itoo, Minister of School Higher Education, H&ME and Social Welfare

NVI Correspondent

Srinagar, Nov 06 (NVI): Hitting out at opposition legislators, especially Peoples’ Democratic Party and Peoples’ Conference for moving a fresh resolution before the House, Minister of School Higher Education, H&ME and Social Welfare Sakina Masood Itoo Thursday said that instead of congratulating and appreciating the National Conference for its resolution, the lawmakers have been resorting to picking up self-understood lacunae.

Talking to media persons soon after the adjournment of House proceedings, Itoo said that PDP is frustrated with the resolution passed by the House. “They (PDP) have slipped from fourteen to mere three, and are seeking ways to gain their numbers,” Itoo said.

“We are true to our cause, and it is in itself a testament for the government brought a resolution, instead by any private member.”

“They (opposition legislators) should have instead, of moving the resolution, congratulate and appreciate the government’s endeavor and accept it wholeheartedly,” Itoo said.

“They have nothing to say, don’t they know what Special Status in our resolution meant,” Itoo said, adding further that, “Special Status means 35A and 370.”

“They lack understanding of language and ought to learn it from somewhere.”

“They (PDP) have a habit of picking up the lacunae and it is why they have been restricted to mere three seats,” Itoo said.

In a veiled dig on JKPC Chairperson Sajad Lone, the Cabinet Minister said that, those who are supporting them have been ministers here from the Nagpur Quota, referring to BJP. “PM Modi used to be his elder brother, when everything was snatched from us,” said Itoo hinting at Lone’s previous alliance with BJP.

Referring to the PDP-BJP alliance, Itoo said, “When we were supporting and offering our support to PDP to form government, Altaf Bukhari (who was then a member of PDP,) had some sort of compulsion to go with BJP.”

“He (Sajad Lone) should be looking into the things and respect the emotions and sentiments of people for the fact public is not so foolish to understand the mess which he brought as a minister while aligning himself with BJP.”

Notably, opposition legislators including those from PDP, PC and AIP moved a fresh joint resolution to seek restoration of Article 370 and 35A, following which a pandemonium broke out in the House, forcing the Speaker to direct for marshalling out of protesting BJP legislators from the House and subsequent adjournment of the proceedings.
