US soldiers deployed for Iran War are in food, hygiene distress
Supplies are running low, morale is going down on warships deployed in the Middle East

US soldiers deployed for Iran War are in food, hygiene distress
US warship at sea

New Delhi, Apr 17: While the Trump Administration is repeatedly claiming victory in the war against Iran, family members of US military personnel deployed in the Middle East are worried that their loved ones are going hungry and their morale is running low.

Supplies “are going to get really low,” and the crew doesn’t anticipate any port visits until the ship returns from its mission, according to messages sent by a US Marine aboard USS Tripoli to the family on March 11.

“Morale is going to be at an all-time low,” wrote the American soldier aboard a warship deployed to fight the Iran war.

The messages were accompanied by a photo of a meal served on the ship — a two-thirds empty lunch tray which had one small scoop of shredded meat and a single folded tortilla, according to American publication USA Today.

Another photo of a mid-April dinner on the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, shared by a service member with his family, was similarly unappetizing – a small handful of boiled carrots, a dry meat patty and a gray slab of processed meat, a report in the publication said.

The report quoted messages sent by some US soldiers deployed in the Middle East to their parents. These sporadic messages were sent when the USS Tripoli reached a pocket of internet service.

These messages said that the US soldiers were rationing their food supplies on the ship. Fresh produce was nowhere to be found. Even the coffee machine on board had broken down.

Hygiene products too are running low on the ship.

The USS Tripoli has been at sea for more than a month since it left its home port in Japan to join the Iran war. The 3,500 sailors and Marines aboard the Tripoli and its two accompanying warships are now tasked with enforcing the U.S. blockade of ships leaving Iranian ports, according to the U.S. Central Command.

Other warships have been at sea far longer.

The concerned family sent a care package with shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and tampons, filling every open space with candy and snacks.

But mail delivery to military ZIP codes across the Middle East has been indefinitely suspended as of April, and packages in transit now hang in limbo, according to the report.

The Postal Service and the Military Postal Service Agency have suspended deliveries as of the beginning of April “due to airspace closures and other logistical impacts from the ongoing conflict,” Maj. Travis Shaw, an Army spokesperson, told USA TODAY.

Mail already in transit when the suspension took effect is being held in secure Postal Service or military facilities “for future delivery once service resumes,” he said.

The suspension is “in effect until further notice,” Shaw added.

“Resumption of mail service is contingent upon the reopening of airspace by civil authorities, and the area commander’s evaluation of regional transportation and distribution stability.”

‘Doctors Terror Module’ Busted in J&K; Chargesheet Filed Against 10

Representational image

Srinagar, Apr 16 (NVI): The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday filed a chargesheet against 10 accused in a terror conspiracy case involving a covert network described as the “Doctors Terror Module”, officials said.

The chargesheet has been filed in connection with an FIR registered at Police Station Nowgam here following the appearance of provocative and threatening posters on October 19, 2025, purportedly in the name of banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), they said.

According to the SIA, the posters were aimed at creating fear among civilians, disturbing public order and challenging the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Investigations revealed that the poster campaign was part of a larger conspiracy to revive the proscribed outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), officials said.

“The accused had formed a clandestine module involved in radicalisation, recruitment and preparations for carrying out terror activities,” an official statement said.

The agency said the group used the name of JeM to exploit its notoriety and create a psychological impact, while covertly working towards re-establishing AGuH, in a bid to mislead security agencies.

Officials said the module comprised highly educated individuals, including medical professionals, who allegedly misused their expertise and access for unlawful activities.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused disseminated extremist content through digital platforms and procured materials linked to fabrication of improvised explosive devices, including from residential premises and facilities associated with a private medical college.

The probe further indicated that the group had identified Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP), a highly volatile explosive, as a preferred material due to the relative ease of sourcing its precursor components.

“The scale of accumulation of explosive materials highlighted the seriousness of the conspiracy and the potential threat had the plot not been foiled in time,” the officials said.

The SIA said the chargesheet is based on recoveries, digital forensic evidence, scientific analysis and witness statements establishing the role of each accused.

Those named in the chargesheet include Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf Bhat, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Irfan Ahmad Wagay alias Owais, Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlashi, Dr Muzamil Shakeel Ganaie alias Musaib, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather alias Javaid, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Tufail Ahmad Bhat and Dr Umar Un Nabi of Pulwama, who was killed in the Red Fort suicide attack, officials said.

The chargesheet has been filed before a competent court, and further investigation in the case is ongoing.(NVI)

Quetta, Apr 16: Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed to have killed 29 and injured several other personnel of the occupying Pakistani forces in 14 operations across Balochistan over a period of 12 days.

During these operations, full control was established over various highways and occupying forces’ checkposts, where blockades were set up, and 13 Levies and police personnel were taken into custody, BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch told NVI.

In these attacks, the occupying army’s supply lines were also targeted and destroyed at two locations, he said.

These 14 operations were carried out by BLA across various areas of Balochistan between April 3 and 14, including Surab, Kharan, Washuk, Mastung, Uthal, Jhal Magsi, and Panjgur, he said.

The spokesman added that these personnel of the Pakistani military “are merely playing the role of mercenary soldiers being used by an occupying state for its expansionist ambitions before being abandoned.”

It is in their “best interest to abandon this failed attempt to enforce oppression and return to your homes in Punjab to earn an honorable living, so that you may live a peaceful and secure life with your families. Otherwise, this scorching land of Balochistan will be made even tighter for you, and the only way back will be in coffins,” Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement.
